Department Manager – Bridges

Our client is seeking a Bridge Department Manager. This senior-level position participates in all phases of transportation bridge design and inspection from concept through to construction. This position is located in California, US.


Essential duties include:

  • Department leadership including managing the operations of current and potential future members
  • Managing tasks and/or projects under contractually prescribed scopes of work, milestone schedules, and allocated budgets
  • Assists in development of marketing strategies, written proposals, and innovative concepts for new business pursuits
  • Represents the department in coordinating with other offices
  • Professional Client interaction
  • Leads the analysis/design, review, and quality control effort on various structural assignments
  • Develops reports, specifications, drawings, and related documents to meet client requirements
  • Familiarity with all phases of Project Development from planning & studies, through final design, and into construction and operation
  • Equal navigational skills– steadfast in course direction and flexible in unexpected changes in direction



  • Must have a BSc in Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Must have at least 10 years of relevant professional experience
  • Requires an active P.E license
  • Requires significant experience preparing preliminary and final bridge design contract documents for roadway, railway, and/or waterway crossing bridges.
  • Design experience with relevant national codes and standards
  • Proficiency using MathCAD, STAAD.Pro, LPILE, PCAColumn, LEAP Bridge software, MDX, FB-MultiPier, Bentley/MicroStation products, Midas, LARSA 4D, or other equivalent engineering bridge software
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite applications commonly used structural engineering software, CADD drawing platforms, and file management frameworks
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills; ability to work alone and cooperatively in small/large groups
